These are the highest mountains in Romania (on Moldoveanu Peak, 2545 m.). Featuring a 70 km. long ridge with many rugged areas, glacial lakes and streams, the Făgăraș provide one of the most popular trekking route in the country. Some of the huts in the Făgăraș have been abandoned, which makes camping the only way for those that want to do the whole trek. In winter the ridge is a milestone for local climbers. For ideas of cycling and trekking routes in these mountains and not only, refer to my GPS track page.
