With a long, mostly round and pasture-covered ridge (just perfect for a cycling tour, he he), the Căpățânii are overshaded by the Parâng to the West and the Făgăraș to the East. However, apart from the long, pleasant main ridge followed by a good trail / dirt road for the most part, these mountains also host two marvelous secondary ridges: the Buila-Vânturarița and the Piatra Târnovului. Rocky and wild, as well as remote, these mountains are among my favourite places in the country. For ideas of cycling and trekking routes in these mountains and not only, refer to my GPS track page.
