Coming South along the Olt, past Tușnad Spa clustered in the narrow valley with cliffs to the West, the valley widens up and the traveler expects little to see while approaching the flat lands hosting Brașov. Yet this is just one more sign that appearances are not necessarily true. A long, low ridge (the highest point is reached on Kő möge / Cărpiniș Peak, at 1241 m.a.s.l.) makes it for an excellent cross-country bike ride, while the Eastern foothills of the Bodoc have many mineral springs to explore. For a biking route track in these mountains (it can also be done trekking), refer to my GPS track page.
